In a nutshell, this movie has a simple plot that is both unrealistic but also terrible. While the genre is comedy, the audience at Downtown East laughed not more than five times (excluding sniggers) in the entire movie (which is saying a lot). Frankly I'm also a little tired of the old formula of using 'Singaporean Speak' (a blend of Hokkien, Chinese and broken English) as the main form of communication between characters. Several issues in the show bug me. *Warning might contain spoilers* Henry Thia periodically flashes back to his past where he plays an ugly frog willing a beautiful princess to kiss him. I have no idea how this pushes the story except every flashback he had was painful to watch and ended up with him doing something weird and stupid (like kissing a dog?!). Another blossoming romance in the movie between was Jack Lim and Jiahui but all that served to highlight is the plight of Singaporean Taxi drivers and romance issues involving dating a Mainland Chinese.
