![]() | Rachel: My favourite dish is char siew noodles at Tiong Bahru Market. The char siew there is fantastic - I like my char siew fatty and slightly charred and crispy on the outside! Yummy! As for a favourite local rice dish, it's got to be chicken rice. I've been eating it at Pow Sing Restaurant in Serangoon Gardens since I was a kid and the quality never drops. A must try! |
![]() | Assumpta: My favourite local dish has got to be wanton mee, and where better to have it than at Fei Fei Wanton Mee on Joo Chiat Road. The best part is that the place is open 24 hours so you can have it anytime you are craving for it! |
![]() | Cordelia: My favourite local dish? Laska! Spice is something I need in every single meal. When we were in London for a week filming with the SingTel Grid Girls, I suffered without my chili. Laska at Thomson Road is one of the best I've had, or Katong Laska! |
![]() | Crystal: I have tried many popiah in Singapore but so far nothing compares to Qiji Popiah. The skin is almost translucent and is definitely a treat for all popiah lovers out there. The good news is that they have lots of outlets in Singapore! |
![]() | Desiree: I love frog porridge and hokkien mee from the hawker in Geylang Lorong 9. |
![]() | Hamizah: My favourite local dish is laksa. I recommend the Laksa at Parkway Parade basement foodcourt because it only costs $3.80, it gives generous servings of cockles and garnish and it is quite simply the most delicious laksa I have ever tasted! |
![]() | Hazwani: The best hot and cold cheng teng is at a stall in Mohammed Sultan Road. The sweet and syrupy dessert is served with a generous amount of fresh longans (my favourite!), sago balls and gingko nuts, so you really feel like you've got your money's worth! The cheng teng here is very cheng (clear) and liang (cooling) as well. |
![]() | Jessebella: My favourite local dish is definitely bak kut teh. I recommend eating it at Balestier, where there are a couple of 24-hour bak kut teh restaurants for your all-day fix. Founder Rou Gu Cha and 933 are always great options. |
![]() | Mandy: I love Peranakan food and popiah is one of my favourite dishes. I normally eat at Chomp Chomp or Newton Circus. After dinner, I love to have some sliced ice - my favourite ice place is at Slice Of Life, Far East Plaza basement 1. |
![]() | Shu Min: I absolutely love chicken rice! I have to have chicken rice at least three times a month, and it's one of the only dishes I miss when I'm overseas! The best places to get amazing chicken rice is Wee Nam Kee opposite Novena Church, along Thomson Road, and at another really popular stall in Alexandra Hawker Centre, opposite Queensway Shopping Centre. The chicken is always succulent and the rice is amazingly fragrant. |
